Hi. My name is Gayle Lewis, and I am a Licensed Social Worker. My deepest passion is to help people heal from past experiences that have hindered growth and kept them from thriving emotionally, relationally, or professionally. I do this by taking a client-centered, strengths-based approach, while listening with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I then use some of the following counseling modalities to support the healing process: CBT, Trauma-Informed CBT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Solution-focused therapy, Aspects of Life Coaching, EFT for couples, and Art Therapy techniques.
One of the most effective tools I use in therapy is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I use this type of therapy to help clients uncover negative core beliefs that keep them stuck in some way. When someone experiences an event that overwhelms them emotionally, the brain has a hard time processing it fully. Because of that, anything that resembles that event now becomes a trigger, leading to difficult emotions such as anxiety, depression, feelings of hopelessness, and low self-esteem. During EMDR, I provide a safe space for the client to reprocess their experience with more helpful information. This leads to a relatively quick turnaround of symptoms; a calmer nervous system, and a greater sense of autonomy. Get a glimpse of how EMDR works HERE.
It is my honor to partner with you as you seek a pathway forward. I hope to connect with you soon.
